Short answer
You see unofficial TOEFL iBT Reading and Listening scores as soon as you finish. Official scores reach your ETS account 3 days after your test date, the PDF score report follows 24 to 48 hours later, and scores stay valid for 2 years.
The TOEFL score timeline
| When | What you get |
|---|---|
| End of the test | Unofficial Reading and Listening scores |
| 3 days after the test | Official scores in your ETS account |
| 24 to 48 hours later | PDF score report ready to download |
| 11 to 15 days after the test | Paper copy, if you asked for one by standard mail |
That makes TOEFL one of the fastest exams we track. Compare it with the GRE General Test, which takes 8 to 10 days, in the GRE score guide.
Unofficial scores at the end
Reading and Listening scores appear on screen as soon as you finish. Speaking and Writing are not included then; they come with your official scores 3 days after the test. See unofficial vs official scores for how other exams handle early results.
PDF and paper score reports
The PDF score report is ready to download 24 to 48 hours after your scores appear in your ETS account. If you ordered a paper copy by standard mail, ETS says it arrives 11 to 15 days after the test. Express shipping is offered in some countries for a fee, arriving 2 to 5 business days after scores are confirmed.
How long scores last
TOEFL iBT scores are valid for 2 years. Download a copy of your score report while it is available so you have it for later applications.
