Short answer
NCBE says MPRE scores are typically released within five weeks of the exam, on the Score Services page of your NCBE account. NCBE sends your score to the jurisdiction you named at registration, and each jurisdiction sets its own passing score on the 50 to 150 scale.
How long MPRE scores take
The MPRE, the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination, is given several times a year on its own schedule, separate from the bar exam. NCBE does not publish score release dates. Its rule is that scores are typically released to examinees within five weeks from the date of the exam.
"Typically" matters. Five weeks is the usual wait, not a deadline, so a score can appear a little earlier or later. The estimates on the MPRE page apply the five week rule to the last day of each administration and are labeled as estimates.
Where your score appears
Scores are posted to the Score Services page of your NCBE account. That page, rather than email, is the place to check once the five weeks have passed.
Sending scores to jurisdictions
How your score reaches a jurisdiction depends on what you chose when you registered:
- NCBE reports your score to the jurisdiction you named when you registered for the MPRE.
- For any other jurisdiction, you request an MPRE Score Report through Score Services. This is common if you later decide to seek admission somewhere else.
Passing scores
MPRE scores are reported on a scale of 50 to 150. There is no national passing score: each jurisdiction sets its own. Many jurisdictions require a passing MPRE score for admission, in addition to passing the bar exam, and their rules on timing differ. Check the admission rules of your jurisdiction for the score it requires and how long a score stays valid there.
Upcoming MPRE dates
The registration deadlines come from NCBE. The score dates are our estimates from the five week rule, not NCBE dates.
