Bar exam results day: portals, pass lists and release times

There is no national bar results day. Each board picks a date, posts to its own portal and often publishes a pass list later.

Short answer

Every jurisdiction sets its own bar results date and posts results to its own applicant portal. Many then publish a public list of passing applicants, sometimes the next day, sometimes several days later. Release times are rarely announced far ahead.

No national results day

NCBE writes much of the bar exam, but it does not release results. Each jurisdiction's board of bar examiners grades, decides and releases its own results on a date it chooses. For the NextGen UBE, NCBE says a score appears in your NCBE Account only after the testing jurisdiction has announced its results and authorized the release.

That is why results for the same exam arrive weeks apart in different states. The July 2026 bar results tracker shows who has announced a date, who has not, and who has already released.

Results go to your portal first

Applicants usually see their own result before anything is public. California releases results through its Applicant Portal, New York posts them to each candidate's account with the Board of Law Examiners, and Texas uses applicants' ATLAS accounts. Log in to your board's portal on results day rather than waiting for a list or news.

Public pass lists

Many boards publish the names of passing applicants after results go to applicants. The gap varies: New York has posted its list the day after results, and California posts its list several days later. A missing name on a public list is not how you should learn your result; the portal comes first and is the official record for you.

Past dates are history, not forecasts. Each board sets every release date separately.

The February exam season

The February bar exam has its own results season in the spring. California's February 2026 results, for example, came out on May 1, 2026. Boards announce February dates on their own schedules, and when this guide was reviewed we had not found a February 2027 results date from any board we track. We add each date to the calendar once the board announces it, rather than guessing from past years.
