COMLEX score release: testing windows, levels and 5 p.m. CT

NBOME gives every testing window one release date. Level 1 and 2-CE take two to six weeks from the window's end; Level 3 takes longer.

Short answer

NBOME publishes one score release date for each COMLEX-USA testing window, and releases scores by 5:00 p.m. Central time on that date. Level 1 and Level 2-CE scores generally come two to six weeks after a window ends; Level 3 takes eight to 10 weeks.

One date per testing window

COMLEX-USA is given in testing windows, and NBOME publishes a release date for each window in advance. Everyone who tests within a window gets scores on that window's date, whichever day they tested. The windows and dates are set in cycles: the Level 1 and Level 2-CE cycles start each May and June, and Level 3 runs by calendar year.

By 5 p.m. Central

NBOME says that, barring unforeseen circumstances, scores are released by 5:00 p.m. Central time. That is 6:00 p.m. Eastern, 4:00 p.m. Mountain and 3:00 p.m. Pacific. Like the MCAT's "by 5 p.m. ET," it is a deadline, so scores can appear earlier in the day.

NBOME also notes that release dates can change with candidate scheduling or with limits on testing, such as site closures.

How long each level takes

  • Level 1 and Level 2-CE: generally two to six weeks from the end date of the testing window.
  • Level 3: generally eight to 10 weeks from the end date of the testing window.

Before any release, NBOME runs a quality assurance process on scoring, which is part of why results are not immediate.

Where you test in the window matters

Because the release date belongs to the window, not to your test day, testing on the first day of a window means a longer wait than testing on the last. The wait NBOME describes is counted from the window's end date. If a deadline depends on your score, look at the release date for the whole window before you pick your day.

What the score report shows

  • Level 1 is reported as pass or fail only, with no numeric score.
  • Level 2-CE and Level 3 report a three-digit standard score with a pass or fail designation.
  • NBOME emails you when your score report is released, and reports are in the NBOME Portal.
